This tour is based on accommodation in Sarova hotels hotels featuring Sarova Shaba Lodge, Sarova Lion Hill, Mara Sarova. 

Itinerary:

Day 1: Nairobi- Samburu Game Reserve

0700hrs pick from the hotel/airport and proceed north to Samburu National park arriving in time for lunch at Sarova Shaba Lodge.

After lunch, proceed for an afternoon game drive.

Samburu National Reserve is located 325 kms north of Nairobi in the hot and arid northern region of Kenya. The reserve is placed within the ancestral lands of the Samburu, who are close relatives of the Maasai.

Despite being so far flung, the reserve harbours a number of species rarely found anywhere else. Among these are Grevy’s zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the beisa oryx, all of which are only found north of the equator.

Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve
0600hrs, early morning game drive followed by breakfast. Lunch at Sarova Shaba Lodge.

After lunch at the lodge, proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Day 3: Samburu- Lake Nakuru National Park

0800hrs, pick up from the lodge after breakfast and drive to Lake Nakuru National park arriving in time for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Game lodge.

After lunch at the lodge, proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

0700 hrs pick up after breakfast and drive via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Maasai Mara in time for lunch. Along the way we will have a distant view of Mt. Longonot, Mt. Margaret and Mt. Suswa.

After lunch at the camp, proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife reserve. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that animals are never out of sight.

Birds, too, are prolific. Including migrants, well over 450 species have been recorded, among them, 57 species of birds of prey.The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and well-spread rainfall year round. Rain, when it falls almost always chooses the late afternoon or night. Between July and October, when the great wildebeest migration is in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the sensation is unparalleled.

Day 5: Maasai Mara National Reserve

0630 hrs -Early morning game drive in the Mara. Later, return to the camp for late breakfast. Rest of the morning at leisure. (On this day, you also have an optional balloon ride- at an extra cost with pick up from the lodge at 0500hrs)

After lunch at the camp, proceed for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Day 6: Maasai Mara- Nairobi

Breakfast at the camp and at 0800hrs, return to Nairobi arriving around 1300 hrs with drop off at your hotel or at the airport.

– Transport based on a Safari vehicle with pop up roof for game viewing

– Balloon Safari which can be arranged at a cost of US$ 410 per person subject to confirmation at the time of booking. (Price variation on the balloon safari depends on your lodge choice and the balloon carrier that operates in the lodge location)
