Mara Gates Safaris was honored to be the travel company chosen to make hotel booking arrangements for Dr. Bill Winston at the prestigious Villa Rosa Kempinski, Nairobi. Dr Bill Winston is the senior pastor of Living Word Christian Center (L100+WCC) who is taking the Gospel of the Kingdom to Africa in his 4 Country Africa Tour in 2018.
Dr Winston will be in 3 cities in South Africa, – Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town as well as Botswana and finally Kenya. Mara Gates Safaris not only booked his hotel accommodation but also was involved in the logistics of planning for his 100+ persons Business Breakfast Meeting at the same hotel on 7th March 2018

Bill Winston is the founder and senior pastor of Living Word Christian Center (LWCC), a multi-cultural, non-denominational church with more than 20,000 members located in Forest Park, Illinois, and Living Word Christian Center-Tuskegee, in Tuskegee, Alabama. LWCC has a broad range of ministries and related entities.
Dr. Winston is also the founder and president of the nationally accredited Joseph Business School (JBS), which teaches practical and biblical principles to empower adults to develop indispensable skills as successful entrepreneurs and business leaders.
JBS is located in Forest Park, Illinois with partnership locations on five continents. The Joseph Business School also has an online program.
He is also the founder of Bill Winston Ministries (BWM), a partnership-based global outreach ministry. BWM produces the Believer’s Walk of Faith television and radio program reaching over 800 million households worldwide.
Dr. Winston also has 882 national and international churches and ministries under his spiritual covering through Faith Ministries Alliance (FMA).
Dr. Winston’s ministry owns and operates two shopping malls, Forest Park Plaza, in Forest Park, and Washington Plaza in Tuskegee. He is also the founder and CEO of Golden Eagle Aviation, a fixed base operation (FBO) located at the historic Moton Field in Tuskegee.
A group of tourists who were on safari in South Africa came across a disturbing scene when they stumbled upon a lion that was trapped in a snare that was most likely set up by poachers.
Alarmed by the terrible condition the lion was in, they took to social media to share the pictures of the sickly lion with park authorities, who promptly dispatched a veterinarian to care for the injured lion.
The animal was treated and is recovering.
Park officials had this to say later..
” The Snared Lion is relieved of the Snare, the wound has been treated. This afternoon, 05 January 2015.
The Lion has been released into the area where it was darted. upon assessment of the wound by the Vets, it appeared not to be as bad as anticipated and displayed by Images. We will share Photographs at a later stage.

Kenya’s stunning wildlife is set to be showcased with two world firsts in a series of live web broadcasts using new state-of–the-art technology. #KenyaLive will enable people to witness the excitement of a night safari in the Mara – as well as Kenya’s coastal underwater treasures – as the action happens in real time.
Building on the success of #MaraLive – the world’s first live web broadcast of the great wildebeest migration – Make It Kenya has partnered with HerdTracker to use a combination of the most innovative filming technology, and Twitter’s Periscope app, to give people around the world unprecedented access to some of the most exciting and rare animal behaviours, with 50 live broadcasts over 11 days.
The broadcast team, led by safari hosts Carel Verhoef and Andre Van Kets of DiscoverAfrica.com and co-creators of HerdTracker, will use cutting edge technology – including the incredible new starlight camera; underwater live periscope and 360-degree video, to capture the exclusive content – available to viewers via their mobile phones, tablets or computers via Periscope and MakeItKenya.com.
Mara Conservancy Lion Interaction
The first of the live broadcasts will offer an unprecedented view of the lions in the Olare Motorogi and Naboisho Conservancies of the Maasai Mara, and what the conservancies have to offer: off-road game drives, fly camping, night game drive safaris as well as walking safaris.
Viewers will be treated to a series of live night broadcasts – the very first of their kind!
The team behind the broadcast will be staying at the Olare Mara Kempinski Hotel, Asilia Africa’s Encounter Mara and Naboisho camps as well as Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Mahali Mzuri luxury safari camp from 7-13 January.
Local Ocean Trust
From 14 -18 January, the team will be in the coastal town of Watamu to host live broadcasts of the Local Ocean Trust project, including the world’s first live underwater broadcasts.
The project rescues sea turtles accidentally caught in fishing nets as bycatch before sending them back into their natural habitat. One very special broadcast will even involve live footage captured via “TurtleCam”, using a GoPro strapped to a turtle’s back.
#KenyaLive will also demonstrate what Watamu has to offer as a fantastic holiday destination, with exclusive live broadcasts of some of the activities available, such as a dhow cruise, treetop yoga and kite surfing in an attempt to showcase a typical safari in Kenya.
Viewers may even be able to spot dolphins in the area during a live stand up paddleboard broadcast.

Hotels at the coast region recorded 80 to 90 percent bookings during the Christmas period, raising hopes of tourism improvement especially in the region this year.
Kenya Coast Tourism Association Chairman Mohamed Hersi says the increase in bookings during the holidays from less than 50 percent same period in 2014, was due to increased security levels.
“We have seen a lot of change in security matters and I can say we had a very smooth festive season. It was calm and easy,” Hersi told Capital FM Business on Monday.
Coastal tourism plays a key role in Kenya’s tourism sector as a whole but has continued to suffer due to low international arrivals since 2013.
For example, between January and September 2015 foreign visitors arriving through Moi International Airport in Mombasa, decreased to 53,084 from 94,750 in 2014, representing a 43.9 percent drop

Kenya has been voted the world’s leading safari destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA) in 2015.
This is the second time Kenya has received this prestigious global award. The last time Kenya won this award was back in 2013.

2 lions have died after they ate poisoned cow meat in Masai Mara Game reserve. The family of lions, popularly known as the Marsh Pride, were the stars of the long-running and hugely popular BBC series called Big Cat Diary.
They even have their own Facebook page, where the poisoning was confirmed.
Five lions in total have been poisoned. Two are confirmed dead: a lioness named Bibi and one unidentified lion, which has been fed on by scavengers. The three others have been treated. Siena, an adult lioness, remains missing.
The rest of the pride has been accounted for and are under 24-hour observation. Six vultures, which likely fed on one of the dead lions, have also died.

Amazing photos taken by a tourist showed a big male lion running running up a tree to save its dear life from a herd of angry pursuing buffaloes in Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya.
These astounding pictures were taken by an ex army official by the name of Charles Comyn, while on a safari trip to the famous game reserve in Kenya
According to his explanation, the buffaloes were guarding a new born calf and probably the lion must have seen the calf and was waiting for a chance to pounce on it but the buffaloes got wind of his intentions.
The buffalos gave chase after the lion and it took off and jumped up a tree to save its life. The buffaloes were not in a hurry and circled the tree waiting for the lion to come down.
After some time the lion got tired being up the tree and desperately jumped and ran off into the bush.

Kenya and Tanzania have entered into an agreement where they will now jointly monitor any developments around the Maasai Mara Game Reserve and Serengeti National Parks.
The terms of the agreement give each country the freedom to to question any development it feels will threaten water in the Mara area.
In the past, there was a huge outcry from Kenya when Tanzania planned to build a major highway across the Serengeti. At the moment, those plans have been put on hold.
The Masai Mara provides a livelihood to millions of people, animals and is a major foreign exchange earner for the two countries.
It is approximately 13,325 square kilometres and is home to more than 1.1 million people and the world-famous Maasai Mara and Serengeti Park.
